Course Overview

Set within the prestigious Quinta do Lago estate in Portugal’s Algarve region, is an 18-hole, par-72 masterpiece that has long been regarded as one of Europe’s finest golf courses. Designed by Joseph Lee and Rocky Roquemore, the course is famed for its stunning setting, weaving through the unspoiled Ria Formosa Nature Reserve with breathtaking views of the Atlantic Ocean and surrounding lagoons.

San Lorenzo offers a challenging yet rewarding layout, featuring immaculate rolling fairways lined with umbrella pines, strategically placed bunkers, and water hazards that come into play on several holes. The coastline comes into play as early as the 6th, with the 6th & 7th standout holes on front 9, the par-5 8th and the par-4 18th provide thrilling risk-reward opportunities and unforgettable vistas, the entire course is made up of either great holes or fantastic holes, definitely one to experience. The course’s fast, undulating greens demand accuracy and a solid short game to score well.

Unfortunately, the clubhouse was destroyed by fire in 2023 and is yet to be replaced, but this shouldn’t detract what is one of the best courses in Europe.
