The Norman Course – Coastal Links with a Vietnamese Twist

Designed by Greg Norman and opened in 2010, the Norman Course is the more natural and windswept of the two layouts. Built across a remarkable expanse of coastal dunes, it was created in the spirit of traditional links golf, with broad fairways, firm playing surfaces, natural sandy areas and large, strategically positioned bunkers.

The course stretches to around 7,190 yards from the back tees and makes excellent use of its exposed coastal setting. Wind is an important part of the challenge, while the undulating greens and expansive sandy areas encourage golfers to think carefully about both club selection and approach.

For UK golfers accustomed to links golf, there are familiar characteristics throughout the Norman Course, although the tropical surroundings provide an unmistakably Vietnamese backdrop. The open dunes, coastal vegetation and ever-present breeze create a wonderfully natural feel, while views towards the East Sea and Cham Islands add to the sense of place.

The par-3 16th is arguably the course's standout hole. Playing towards a slightly elevated green, it combines the challenge of the prevailing conditions with spectacular views across the East Sea and towards the Cham Islands. It is the type of hole that can remain in the memory long after the scorecard has been forgotten.

The Nicklaus Course – A Very Different Golfing Experience

If the Norman Course is about natural dunes and links-style golf, the Nicklaus Course offers an intriguing contrast.

Designed by Nicklaus Design, the 18-hole layout occupies around 200 hectares alongside the Co Co River and is characterised by wide fairways, water features, wetlands and the course's distinctive wood-faced bulkheads. The bulkhead design, inspired by courses in Florida, was the first of its kind in Southeast Asia and gives the course a very different visual identity from its Norman-designed neighbour.

At approximately 7,380 yards and playing to par 73 from the back tees, the Nicklaus Course is one of the longer layouts in Vietnam. However, its generous fairways provide plenty of room from the tee, allowing golfers to concentrate on positioning and the strategic challenges presented by the approach shots.

The course also benefits from a setting that feels more sheltered and structured than the Norman layout. Paddy fields, wetlands, lakes and the Co Co River feature throughout the course, while views towards local villages and the surrounding landscape provide a distinctly different sense of place.

The Nicklaus Course has also hosted the BRG Open Golf Championship Danang, which was staged here from 2022 to 2024, underlining its credentials as a championship venue.

The resort also features a substantial clubhouse with restaurants, bars, café facilities, locker rooms and a pro shop, alongside extensive practice facilities including covered and outdoor driving bays, putting and chipping areas and practice bunkers.
