Club de Golf Alcananda - Mallorca

Course Overview

Located on the northern coast of Mallorca near Port d’Alcúdia, Club de Golf Alcanada is widely regarded as one of the island’s most spectacular seaside courses. Opened in 2003 and designed by renowned architect Robert Trent Jones Jr., the 18-hole, par-72 layout stretches to over 6,500 metres from the back tees and sits directly beside the Bay of Alcúdia. Uniquely for Mallorca, the course runs right alongside the Mediterranean coastline, offering uninterrupted sea views from many of its holes.

The course takes its name from the small island of Alcanada, located just offshore and crowned by a distinctive lighthouse that can be seen from much of the layout. This lighthouse has become the club’s signature visual landmark, providing a memorable backdrop as the course winds through gently undulating terrain framed by pine forests, olive groves and natural Mediterranean vegetation.

True to the design philosophy of Robert Trent Jones Jr., Alcanada places a strong emphasis on strategic play rather than sheer power. Generous fairways from the tee encourage confident driving, but the approach shots require precision to navigate the course’s deep bunkering and large, subtly contoured greens. In total, more than 50 bunkers guard the layout, while ravines and natural valleys add further character and challenge throughout the round.

Several holes stand out during the round, particularly those that bring the Mediterranean dramatically into view. The par-5 7th and the picturesque 13th are often highlighted as signature moments, with the sea forming a striking backdrop as players approach the green. Meanwhile, the finishing stretch demands accuracy and composure as the course works its way back towards the clubhouse overlooking the bay.

In addition to its natural beauty and strategic design, Club de Golf Alcanada has earned an outstanding reputation on the European golf scene. The course regularly hosts prestigious amateur and professional tournaments, including the Rolex Grand Final of the Challenge Tour, further cementing its standing as one of the leading golfing venues in Spain.

Combining dramatic coastal scenery, thoughtful championship design and immaculate conditioning, Club de Golf Alcanada offers a memorable and rewarding round of golf. With views of the sea visible from the majority of holes and the lighthouse of Alcanada never far from sight, it remains one of the most distinctive golfing experiences in Mallorca.
