Course Overview

Located just a few minutes from the centre of Palma, Son Muntaner Golf is widely regarded as one of Mallorca’s premier championship courses. Opened in 2000 and designed by German architect Kurt Rossknecht, the 18-hole, par-72 layout stretches to just over 6,300 metres from the back tees and forms part of the prestigious Arabella Golf Mallorca resort alongside Son Vida and Son Quint. Set between the hills of the Serra de Na Burguesa and overlooking the Bay of Palma, the course offers a striking blend of Mediterranean scenery and modern championship design.

Son Muntaner is known for its immaculate conditioning and strategic layout, with wide fairways flowing through gently rolling terrain framed by mature pines, olive trees and native Mediterranean vegetation. Although the driving areas are generally generous, the course rewards precision into the greens, which are fast, subtly contoured and carefully protected by bunkers and water hazards. Elevated tees, clever doglegs and well-defined landing areas encourage thoughtful course management throughout the round.

One of the most distinctive features of the course arrives at the par-5 15th, where players must navigate around “Na Capitana”, a remarkable olive tree believed to be more than a thousand years old and officially recognised as a natural monument by the Balearic government. The back nine also provides several memorable moments, with picturesque tee shots framed by the surrounding hills and glimpses of Palma beyond.

Son Muntaner has firmly established itself as a respected tournament venue and is the only golf course in the Balearic Islands included in the European Tour Destinations network. It has hosted high-level professional events, including tournaments on both the DP World Tour and the Ladies European Tour, underlining its reputation as a true championship test.
