Montgomerie Maxx Royal Golf - Belek

Course Overview

Located in Belek on Turkey’s Mediterranean coast, Montgomerie Maxx Royal Golf Club is widely regarded as one of the leading championship golf courses in Turkey. Opened in 2008 and designed by Ryder Cup legend Colin Montgomerie in collaboration with European Golf Design, the course is an 18-hole, par-72 layout measuring approximately 6,500 metres from the back tees. Set among mature pine forests, natural sandy ridges and rolling terrain close to the Mediterranean Sea, the course combines modern championship design with one of the strongest tournament pedigrees in Belek.

Built across more than 100 hectares of natural landscape, Montgomerie Maxx Royal is known for its wide undulating fairways, dramatic bunkering and expansive waste areas that create a strategic and visually striking test of golf. While generous landing areas encourage aggressive play from the tee, carefully positioned hazards and fast, subtly contoured greens place a strong emphasis on precision approach play and confident putting. Water hazards feature prominently throughout the layout, particularly across the closing stretch where risk-and-reward decisions become increasingly important.

The course is designed to challenge golfers of all abilities, rewarding thoughtful course management as much as power. Several holes stand out during the round, including a series of strong par-5s and the demanding finishing stretch back towards the clubhouse. The par-4 18th is particularly memorable, with water protecting the approach to a green set directly beneath the impressive clubhouse terrace.

Montgomerie Maxx Royal has established itself as one of the premier tournament venues in European golf, having hosted multiple editions of the Turkish Airlines Open on the DP World Tour’s Rolex Series. Many of the world’s leading players, including Tiger Woods, Rory McIlroy, Justin Rose and Tyrrell Hatton, have competed on the course, further strengthening its reputation as one of the standout golf courses in Belek.

One of the club’s most distinctive features is its famous floodlit back nine, allowing golfers to experience championship golf after sunset — a rare experience in European golf. Combined with excellent practice facilities, luxury resort accommodation and consistently high course conditioning, Montgomerie Maxx Royal remains one of the most complete and memorable golf experiences in Turkey.
