The National Golf Club - Belek
Course Overview
Located in Belek on Turkey’s Mediterranean coast, The National Golf Club was the first golf course in the region built to international championship standards and played a major role in establishing Belek as one of Europe’s leading golf destinations. Opened in 1994 and designed by former Ryder Cup player David Feherty and architect David Jones, the course is an 18-hole, par-72 championship layout measuring approximately 6,400 metres from the back tees. Set among mature pine and eucalyptus forests close to the Mediterranean Sea, The National Golf Club remains one of the most respected and traditional golf courses in Turkey.
Unlike many of Belek’s more modern resort layouts, The National has a classic parkland feel, with tree-lined fairways, strategically placed bunkers and small, well-protected greens placing a strong emphasis on accuracy and course management. The course winds naturally through dense woodland, creating tight driving corridors on several holes and rewarding precision far more than power from the tee. Water hazards also come into play throughout the round, adding further challenge to the layout.
One of the defining features of The National Golf Club is its mature setting. Towering pine and eucalyptus trees frame almost every hole, giving the course a peaceful atmosphere while also punishing wayward shots. Subtle elevation changes, doglegs and fast greens ensure the course remains both visually appealing and strategically demanding from start to finish.
Several memorable holes stand out during the round, particularly the challenging finishing hole played back towards the clubhouse terrace. The par-4 18th requires a precise approach over water to a well-guarded green, creating one of the strongest finishing holes in Belek. Earlier in the round, narrow fairways and carefully positioned hazards place constant emphasis on disciplined shot selection and accurate iron play.
The National Golf Club has also built a strong tournament pedigree, having hosted events including the Turkish Airlines Ladies Open and the PGA European Turkish Seniors Open. Combined with its established reputation, traditional clubhouse atmosphere and championship design, it continues to rank among the most enjoyable and respected golf courses in Belek and remains a key part of golf in Turkey.
